Winter '12 CSA - Sign Up Now!
We are now accepting new members for our Winter '12 CSA.  We are offering shares for $30, every other week, starting Nov 10 and going through Jan 19 (6 distributions).  The shares will include 6-12 items, and will include storage crops (beets, potatoes, winter squash), lettuces and greens, grains, and canned goods.  While almost everything will come from our farms, we will likely have a couple things from other local, organic producers.

Due to limited availability of produce during this time of year, we are only able to offer our Winter CSA to a limited number of members and at a limited number of sites.  Please click the link to sign up to view a complete list of our host sites and pick-up times.  You can also view that list on a map by clicking the "map" button on the top left of the screen.  Currently, we have not been able to confirm all of the details with some locations, and they appear at the bottom as "wait list" locations.  You can still sign up for them, which will reserve your share and we will contact you as soon as everything is confirmed so you can complete the sign-up process and be taken off the wait list.

You also have the option of adding a dozen eggs ($5.50) to your share if you are interested.

We will also provide a 25% discount if you pay with SNAP benefits.  If you plan to pay with SNAP benefits, please choose to pay with check and write a note in the box at the bottom of the payment screen telling us you will be paying with SNAP; we will get in touch with you to confirm the payment details.

Our Eggs and Bread Options
In addition to the produce you will receive each week as a CSA member, you have the option of adding eggs and bread to your weekly share.

Our eggs are not only organic, but are raised outside in a movable coop that gives them access to  fresh pasture every day.  In addition to eating grubs and grass on pasture, they are fed organic grains that are raised on our farms.

Our bread is fire-oven baked on our farms each week from organic, pastured eggs from our farms and freshly ground whole wheat flour.  The farmers insist the fresh-ground flour is superior in flavor and texture, and their bread is great for making sandwiches, toasting, and making french toast.

You can add eggs or bread to your subscription on the third (options) tab of our online sign-up form.

Local Cheese Subscription - Sign Up Here!
Summer CSA members and nonmembers are invited to join our Local Cheese subscription program. A subscription will provide a variety of western-PA-made cheeses every week, for the cost of $7.50. The pick-up locations and times correspond with the Summer CSA schedule. Click Sign-Up Here, choose your location and select ‘Local Cheese Subscription’.

Local cheese subscribers will receive goat cheeses from Riverview Dairy (Emlenton), and cow cheeses from Gibsondale Farms (New Castle), Clover Creek Cheese Cellar (Williamsburg) and Milky Way Meadows (Townville). Expect varieties including: Soft Chevre, Aged Goat Cheese, Asiago, Mozzarella, Romano, Irish Cheddar, Hot Pepper, Aged Swiss, Olive and Rosemary Havarti, Sundried Tomato Basil Colby, Smoked Gouda and many more.

Thank you for joining us in our harvest this season!  You can make it official by registering through our online system below.  If you run into any trouble or don't understand the steps, there are instructions below--and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us.  Please note that to sign up you have to make a payment.  There are a couple payment options offered in our online system, but if those do not work for you, please see the instructions in Step 4 below.  When you have completed registration, you will receive a confirmation email; if you have tried to register and did not receive a confirmation email, please email us and we will ensure that you get registered.

Signing Up

To coordinate the sign-up and payment process we use a webtool called Farmigo.  Once you click the link, signing up consists of 6 steps.
  1. Location: You will have a choice of locations in a list that can also be viewed on a map using the tabs at the top left.  Each location lists the address and times you can pick up your share as well as any special comments.  If you do not see a location that is convenient for you, please email us, we are looking to add additional sites this year.
  2. Share: Choose what kind of share you wish to receive.  We offer full ($25/week) and small ($15/week) shares.  The content of the shares will be the same except for the quantity.
  3. Options: You can choose additional items to add to your share.  This year, we are offering eggs and bread at $5/week each.  If you click on the items, it will give you more detail. You can skip this step if you don't wish to add anything to your share.
  4. Payment Options: You can choose to pay for your subscription in full or in 2 payments.  If you wish to subscribe but can't commit to either of these options, please choose full payment and in the final step select to pay by check and send us a note or email explaining what you are planning.
  5. Contact Info: You will be prompted to register as a member and input contact info.  We will only use this information for coordinating the CSA and will not share it with anybody else.
  6. Payment: You can pay with credit cards through an online system, use PayPal, or send us a check.
Once you have clicked "finish" you will be registered as a member and receive an email confirming your choices.  If you wish to update your contact info, you can click here, and if you wish to make an additional payment, you can do so here.

As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us.

How it Works
You can visit our online store, add items, and place an order each week during a specified time for each delivery location.  The store re-opens each week on the day after delivery for that location and  remains open for orders until the specified closing time listed below.  You must pick-up your order at the location you chose during the time specified.

Making an Order
When you click to add an item, if you are not already signed in, the system will prompt you to enter some contact information and create an account.  If you use Facebook, you can choose to log-in with your Facebook username and password and you will not have to set up an account.  If it is the first time you are ordering, you will be prompted to choose a pick-up location from a list (you can also view it as a map by switching the tabs on the top left).

As you add items, they will be added to a green box on the right.  You can see the delivery date, item description, quantity of each item and order total there. You will notice that several items list a weight range and a price per pound, for details about how you are charged for those, please read the Item Variation section below.

When you are finished adding items and are ready to checkout, simply click the "Checkout" button on the bottom right.  You will be prompted to choose to pay with a debit or credit card or electronic check.  Both options will bring you to a screen where you will enter payment details and finalize the order.

Item Variation
Your account will be debited upon delivery; which means that you will not be charged for the order until the morning of delivery.  We do this because several of the items have variation and we will make adjustments to your order based on this variation before charging you.

For example, say you order a "Stewing Chicken 2-4lbs, $2.50/lb" which is listed as 3lbs for $7.50.  Because stewing chickens come in different sizes, the chicken you actually receive may be anywhere between 2 and 4 pounds.  We will adjust the price you are charged to reflect the chicken you receive, so you will be charged anywhere from $5 to $10 depending on the actual weight.  The 3lbs for $7.50 price that is listed is just our best guess at what the actual charge will be.

A Note on Our Meats
We keep all of our meats in freezers between -20 and 0 degrees fahrenheit.  Everything except the chickens and rabbits are in vacuum-sealed packs, and the chickens/rabbits are in heat-sealed bags.  We deliver the meat to each site in insulated reusable shopping bags with ice packs in them, but depending on the weather, and how long they are sitting there, it is very possible for the meat to start thawing before you pick it up.  Please be aware of this and make sure to pick up your order as early as possible to ensure this is not an issue.

All of our produce and meat is organic unless otherwise noted

Changing Your Account Settings
If you'd like to see your order, change your contact information, or switch your pick-up location, you can do so here.  To change your pick-up location click "change location" in the green box on the right and you will be given a list to choose from.
