Seedlings Amidst a Wintry Spring

It's two days into Spring, but, alas, Winter seems to have no plans to make room for a new season. A nor'easter called "Toby" made Winter's stubbornness loud and clear by throwing snow all over our farms today! Gentle Spring seems no match for harsh Winter — if not for our thriving army of seedlings sprouting up in your humble CRO greenhouses! We visited a few farms recently and caught a glimpse of these little signs of Spring expectation...

Over at Rippling Brook Farm, Aaron and his family are tending to a houseful of cabbage seedlings:

Just down the road, Emanuel and his family are caring for a healthy collection of fennel varieties:

And at Josiah's, our last stop, we spotted seedlings of Kohlrabi and Red Kale:

So long as temperatures remain low, the wood burners in these greenhouses will be put to good use! And don't worry, we've plenty of wood stored up to keep these plants, our homes and our families nice and cozy during, what looks to be, the fickle Spring weather ahead!
